Crane Operator Classes Ottawa - Crane operator training is for supervisors and operators of overhead lifting machine. The course is suitable for both new and current operators. Course content includes relevant provincial, state and federal safety regulations. The training's first part includes comprehensive in-class instruction and exam. After that is a customized hands-on session with practical instruction and evaluation.
Course content applies to all types and categories of overhead lifting devices. Particular instruction would concentrate on aspects of crane operation utilized at the trainee's workplace. Upon completion of the course, trainees will learn how to operate particular overhead lifting devices, attachments and related components in a safe and efficient way.
The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits which an operator could develop when operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products can be prevented with proper practices. Training lessens the chance of a workplace injury or incident occurring.
The course would encompass about eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of on-site, hands-on, customized training. Participants would be graded on their knowledge of training material via an evaluation of their practical knowledge and written tests. The minimum acceptable score is 80 percent.
In the in-class session, participants would learn applicable causes of occurrences and damages, guidelines and legislation, hazard awareness, internal responsibility, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, basic equipment and design principles, pre-shift equipment inspections, safe hoisting/operating methods, kinds of hardware, equipment applications/rigging, hitches and angles, operator/pedestrian safety, hand signals for operators and slingers, flipping/turning loads safely.
The customized practical training and evaluation session must be pre-scheduled. It would be held at the trainees' facility after completion of the in-class session. The length of this practical training part is one to two hours. Two operators at a time will be trained by the instructor on skills like planning the lift, proper rigging practices and safe operation.
Upon completing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will write a test. Signed safety rules would be required from every participant. Individual wallet certificates would be given to trainees who are successful. The company will be given a framed wall certificate.
