Zoom Boom Training Ottawa - Zoom Boom Training is designed to train operators on variable reach forklifts. The goals of the training are to be able to impart an understanding of the physics of the machinery, and to be able to outline the operator's job. This course abides by North American safety standards for lift trucks. Zoom boom training and certification is accessible at the company's location or at our site, provided there are a minimum number of trainees. Certification given upon successful completion is valid for three years.
The telehandler or also known as a telescopic handler is similar in many ways to a common forklift or a crane. This useful machinery is made with a telescopic boom that can extend forward and lift upwards. A variety of attachments can be fitted on the end of the boom, like bucket, pallet forks, lift table or muck grab. It is popular in industry and agriculture settings.
Telehandlers are most normally used together with the fork attachment to transport loads. The units have the advantage that they could reach places inaccessible to standard forklifts. Telehandlers could remove loads which are palletized from within a trailer and placing them on high places such as rooftops. For some applications, they can be more practical and efficient compared to a crane.
While lifting heavy loads, the telehandler can experience some unsteadiness. As the boom is extended too far with a load, the equipment will become more unsteady. Counterweights in the rear help, but don't solve the problem. When the working radius increases, the lifting capacity rapidly decreases. Some machines come with front outriggers that extend the lifting capacity whilst the equipment is stationary.
A load chart helps the operator to know whether a given load is very heavy. Factors such as boom angle and height and load weight are calculated. Various telehandlers have sensors which cut off further control or provide a warning if the unit is in danger of destabilizing.
